Help Families Fight Cancer Together.
Sunnyside Playroom Story
The Sunnyside Playroom was created in honor of Dr. Alex Porter. We provide family-friendly playrooms in adult cancer hospitals within the United States. These playrooms provide a sanctuary where families can come together to play with toys, games, create memorable pieces of art together, read books, relax in an environment with murals that bring the OUTside IN, and watch child-friendly movies in comfortable furniture. To this date, we opened our first family playroom at Riverside Methodist Hospital. We are working on our second playroom currently!
There was an obvious gap in the needs of families impacted by cancer and their loved ones.
We are thrilled that we have helped correct this locally. Our hope is to expand throughout the United States to help as many families as possible.
Please look through our website to see the video of why Sunnyside Playrooms are needed with our family's experience, our outstanding board including Nathan Hand, Kashmir Hyder, Dr. Lindsay Rerko, Dr. Heather Scholl, Dr. Jessica Stevens, Christy Vincent, Gwendolyn Porter & Dan Torbeck, our blog, events that are happening and how you can become involved. We would love to spread the message of Alex's Sunnyside Playroom to hospitals that may be interested, volunteers who may offer to help, pro bono efforts from marketing/PR and companies who may want to donate for fundraising efforts. Please feel free to reach out if you know anyone who may be interested in Alex's Sunnyside Playroom in memory of Dr. Alex Porter.
